Wavefront-guided LASIK is an improved way of doing LASIK. It involves developing individualised computer calculated treatment plans for each patient, based upon the unique shape and optical characteristics of each eye. Using wavefront technology, a detailed analysis of each eye’s optical characteristics is captured. Together with a sophisticated 3- dimensional map of the cornea, a customised laser treatment profile is then generated for that eye. SNEC uses the Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix System for performing wavefront-guided LASIK.
The potential advantages of wavefront-guided LASIK are:
- reduction in visual aberrations such as glare and halos
- higher degree of accuracy
- reduced corneal tissue removal in some cases
